Happy April!

Welcome to my second blog post. Thank you so much for joining me! I devour books quickly, and I have so many that I haven't talked about yet and so many left on my TBR (to be read) list. So as not to overwhelm myself or you guys, I have decided that I will strive to post every Tuesday. So, be sure to check in.

This week, I absolutely have to talk about a book that had me feeling all the feelings. Do you love when a book is like that? I absolutely do! This is one where I personally identified with the female main character.

Before we dive in, let's get into the warnings. ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️

Detailed medical conditions

Medical trauma

Body shaming

Misogyny

Grief from losing a loved one due to a car accident

Instalove

On page sex

Off page domestic violence

Cussing

If reading any of that is not your cup of tea that is okay but this book may not be to your liking. If you are okay with reading everything above, you may love this book as much as I did.

The book: Patient 247 by Carmen Richter

This was my first book by Carmen and it hooked me immediately.

Though this book is only 200 pages it felt as full as a 400 page book. You meet Hope the female main character. Hope suffers from a terrible chronic medical condition which causes her to have mobility issues, weight issues, and severe pain. She is legally disabled and becomes a writer after being home on disability. This is where I connected with Hope and Carmen Richter. Hope's story is based off of Carmen's own story.

I have been chronically ill my whole life but it came to a head six years ago. I spent weeks in the hospital. That was followed by three years of specialists and endless tests trying to find a diagnosis. I was dismissed, mistreated, abandoned, and traumatized by the medical community. I have experienced first hand the things described in this book. To see something so close to your own life laid out in print, it just hits differently.

That being said, Carmen takes you through all the emotions in Patient 247. I felt rage, disgust, despair, humiliation, fear, hope, relief, and happiness. It packs a punch in the best possible way. Now, it is a HEA and instalove so no worries about cliffhangers or sad endings.

Music also plays a  large role in the book and Carmen includes a soundtrack which is fantastic. Music is a coping tool for so many, myself included. I absolutely love the songs that were included with this book.

I absolutely gave this one a five ⭐️ on my online reviews. As far as spice, it is pretty tame. It does have on page sex but there are only two scenes and they aren't super spicy. I give it a single 🌶 rating.

I definitely recommend this one if it's up your alley. I can not wait to read more books by Carmen. I am thankful for Angelina Kerner and the amazing event that she hosted that gave me the opportunity to read this book and discover this amazing independent author. If you have the chance to be involved with one of Angelina's events please do so. You'll love it! Plus, she has awesome books out as well as making great graphics for people.

Thank you fellow readers for taking the time to read my blog. Let me know if you pick up this book. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it too. Take care of yourselves and keep reading. I hope that you catch me again next week.
