Happy Tuesday fellow readers! It's the last day of July! Can you believe it?! It feels like the summer has flown by. Last week I took a break while my in-laws visited from out of state. It was a nice visit and it's always great to see them. Now I'm back, and I have a triple treat for you!
This week it is my pleasure to bring you the Embrace the Darkness Series by Carly Claire. It is a three book crime/vigilante justice dark romance series.
Buckle up because here we go!
Book one is A Taste of Darkness.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶
Trigger Warnings:
Mentions of foster care
Mentions of childhood trauma/sexual abuse
Stalking
Death of a parent
Carly Claire has gifted us some wonderful characters in this series whom we meet in this book. Claire is the FMC, female main character, with a mysterious and traumatic past. Rhiannon aka Rhea is her wealthy and fun loving best friend. Remy is Rhea's brother and the MMC, male main character. There are a host of wonderful side characters as well. Though the subject matter is dark Carly does a beautiful job at bringing us in slowly. You can't help but to be invested in this world and root for the romance between Claire and Remy.
Here is my official review:
A Taste of Darkness by Carly Claire is a slow but steady descent into the shadows. The characters are so in depth and the story is so well done. The suspense is mild but good as is the mystery. I enjoyed all of the clues to put together as the story progressed. Definitely read the trigger warnings if you have any sensitivities. It is a great book, and I can't wait to see what else Carly comes up with.
On to book two!
The Weight of Darkness.

Trigger Warnings:
Human trafficking
Mentions of sexual abuse
On page sex
Violence
Kidnapping
Torture
Poisoning
Murder
Book two takes us darker. It brings us further into the world that Remy lives in despite not wanting this for himself. Carly has created some deep and highly developed characters! The twists, turns, and action just keep coming along with some spice. It keeps you guessing and begging for more.
Here is my official review:
The Weight of Darkness is book 2 of a series by Carly Claire. This book is darker, spicier, and more heartbreaking than book one. I have so many questions. I love how Claire has grown in this book. That ending, though! How are you going to do us like that?! Well, now we wait for book three.
More has finally arrived! As of 7/25/24 A Light in the Darkness has arrived. It is the final of the series.
Let's jump right in!

Book three is of course the darkest of the three but as the title suggests there is light in the darkness. It is a roller coaster and unpacks a lot. It is a fantastic wrap up to the series.
Here is my official review:
Labyrinthine
The twists and the turns!! Oh my! A Light in the Darkness is the darkest of the series and it is fantastic. The balance is perfect. Darkness and light. Humor and sadness. Hope and despair. Death and new life. It is brilliantly done. Carly really outdid herself on this one. I love Claire and Remy's story. Two broken pieces somehow fit together perfectly. I am excited to see that Moose will be getting his own story next year. I hope that it lets us peek back in on these characters. I can't wait to read more.
So, that's it for me for this week. I hope that you enjoyed peeking at this fantastic trilogy. If you'd like to embrace the darkness you may do so here:
Until next time, curl up with a good book.
