Happy Tuesday, fellow readers!

We are solidly in spooky season! I love it. To celebrate, I am pleased to bring you a double feature! This week, we have a paranormal romance called "Cake It Easy" by Johnna Dee and a military why choose romance called "Taming Their Darkstarr" by Destiny Storm.

We'll start with "Cake It Easy."

First, the trigger warnings.

Trigger Warnings

• Forced to be a vamp (her)

• Biting

• Blood

• Abuse

A big congratulations to Johnna Dee for her book release day! This one is in the same series and world as "Cake with a Slice of Vengeance," but it is a stand alone story.

Harlow is a complex female main character with a tragic history. I couldn’t help but feel for her. She is so well thought out. Aris, the male main character, is such a stark contrast to her. It's a perfect opposites attract scenario.

The other characters are sparse but perfect. The minimal amount of other characters just lent to a stronger story between Harlow and Aris while still adding more plot and some twists for Aris. It is so well done.

While there isn't a super solid tie to the bakery, cake does play a role and Harlow is a party planner, so she works with bakeries often. It is a great romantic addition to the series.

Here is my official review.

"Cake It Easy" is a fabulous paranormal romance. She's a nomadic outcast party planner, and he's the golden boy of the coven. I love the back and forth between them and the growth of all of the characters throughout the book. It's quite a treat!

Now, on to our second selection who is celebrating release day tomorrow! Congratulations to Destiny Storm on the release of "Taming Their Darkstarr." Let's dive in, but first, the trigger warnings.

Trigger Warnings:

Poly Relationships

Human Trafficking

Physical Combat

Lethal Force

Violence towards women

Sexual assault (non-descriptive)

I love a good "why choose" romance, and I enjoy an action packed story. While this book saves the romance until the end, it brings in both the action and the romance/spice. Now, if you are looking for a full smut fest, this isn't it. However, it gives a nice little taste.

"Taming Their Darkstarr" brings in mystery, military, secret missions, death, human trafficking, danger, and eventually love. All of the characters are well thought out as are their team dynamics. It can get a little gritty with the whole human trafficking bit but nothing that's too graphic.

Here is my official review:

"Taming Their Darkstarr" is a very action forward story with the romance saved for last. It gave time to better understand the characters especially Darkstarr, who is a total baddy. The story is a little gritty but nothing too descriptive and it flows well. Overall, it's an enjoyable read.

If you'd like to meet the badass Darkstarr and her amazing men, you can get "Taming Their Darkstarr" on or after Wednesday October 8th, here: https://a.co/d/fJtF2tM

That does it for me for this week, dear readers. Please join me again next week for another wonderful recommendation. Until then, curl up with a good book.
