Book Club Week 6: Born of Betrayal

Happy Tuesday once again, fellow readers! Can you believe that we only get one more of these before it's October?! Where did the month go? I totally won't complain though, since October is home to my favorite holiday.

Anyway, let's get on to this week's book selection from the Book Babes book club. This week we have a dark paranormal romance novella called Born of Betrayal by Margaret Mallory.

This one started out strong! I was hooked right away. Betrayal, attempted murder, and witchcraft! Yes, please! Margaret has a bit of an interesting style as she doesn't really give us a lot of detail on her characters, so it is left to the reader's imagination with only small hints given.

Unlike many novellas, the FMC, female main character, isn't the first lady introduced to readers in the book. I found that intriguing. I do love the FMC, May, though. She is strong and sweet. I love May and Erik as a couple. They have the soul mate vibe that is just swoon worthy.

Though the novella could do with a little polishing in the editing department, and I would have loved to have seen more happening with the original plot, it is overall a good quick read. I look forward to seeing how the rest of the series plays out.

Born of Betrayal starts off very strong and it hooked me right away. It brings out the strong emotions such as shock, betrayal, sadness, and anger. Margaret brings romance and a little spice as well. I love Meg and Erik as a couple. I look forward to seeing how Meg grows in the next book. It could use a little polishing but overall it is a good quick read filled with betrayal, witchcraft, and love.
