Hello, fellow readers! Are things cooling off where you are? It's starting to feel like Fall here in Pennsylvania. It makes curling up with a good book even more tempting, doesn't it? A nice warm blanket, a delicious cup of hot chocolate or hot tea, and good book. *sigh*
With that in mind let's take a look at week 4's book from the book club. This time we have a paranormal adventure called Lament of Death by Maria Vermisoglou.
Let's start with the trigger warnings.

I absolutely adore the world building in this novella. I was transported right away. The relationships that Kyara, the female main character, has with her friends is so wholesome and wonderful. Though the book is short, the characters are well developed.
I love how the story throws you a few curveballs. This one will definitely not leave you bored. There are some darker themes here dealing with banshees, witches, and death. It is well done and I could not get enough of it. I would totally read full 400 plus page novel based on this novella if she wrote it. I would read a whole series.
Here is my official review:
Gripping
Imagine your whole life building up to one event and then suddenly it becomes your worst nightmare. Maria uses that very premise to spin a terrifyingly gripping tale in Lament of Death. She does a beautiful job with character and world building especially with the FMC, Kyara. I even love her name, it is so unique. The story takes a minute to build up and then rushes along at lightning speed. I was definitely never bored. Though it could use a little polishing editing/proofreading wise, it did not detract from my overall enjoyment of the book. Well done, Maria!
