Happy Tuesday, fellow readers! Since it's the season of giving, I have a gift for you. š
...It's a triple treat! That's right, three books! I hope that you are excited. I'm excited to bring them to you. Let's jump right in!
Book one is a thriller. It was the last in my thriller row for bingo. It's called Unchained Melody by Maya Black.
First, the trigger warnings.

Trigger Warnings:
Vivid nightmares
Death/Murder
Repressed childhood trauma
Abuse
Rape/incest
I know, another dark one. š¤ It is an interesting one. Have you seen Smile 2? If you have, you will be in the right head space for this book. I happened to have just watched it before starting to read "Unchained Melody" and it was a fantastic combination. Both make you question everything about what you just saw/read. You'll struggle to know what actually happened and what was imagined. I absolutely adore psychological thrillers that can accomplish this!
On to my official review.
A twisted tale full of surprises.
Wow! Maya Black surprised me with this one. I was not expecting "Unchained Melody" to have so many twists and turns. I enjoyed the mystery style feel and going on an unexpected journey to the past with Imogen. I had just watched Smile 2 right before starting this book, and I must say it put me in just the right head space for it. Coincidentally it involved a famous singer and mysterious deaths too as well as making one question what is real. Even though it was a total coincidence, "Unchained Melody" was the perfect read after that movie. If you don't mind the triggers, I definitely recommend it.
If you are like me and live a good psychological thriller be sure to pick this one up. Here is a link: https://a.co/d/1jU67f5
On to book number two! This one is a young adult sci-fi adventure called Dino-Rift by Derek Borne.
Like most YA books, it doesn't have many triggers but here they are.

Trigger Warnings:
Time rifts
Mentions of eating dinosaurs
Faked death/car accident
Death by dinosaurs
Poaching dinosaurs
See? Nothing too terrible. This one was riveting! A true page turner! If you like young adult books and adventure you'll love this one. Derek does a fantastic job creating a fantastic, detailed world both in the present and in the past. The characters are so well done, also. I love Kam and Viv. It was not just the two main characters, though. I came to love EA and Theo and even care a bit about Sebastian. Of course there were also dinosaurs to love too! I especially got a kick out of one called Nandy.
Here is my official review:
Time rifts, dinosaurs, and young love.
I absolutely adored "Dino-Rift". This was my first book by Derek Borne, and I absolutely could not put it down. I especially enjoyed the illustrations of the dinosaurs that the characters encountered. Action, adventure, dinosaurs, and a budding romance. What more could I ask for? It is absolutely fantastic! The romance is there as an underlying theme, but isn't overdone and it doesn't overshadow the action, which I think makes it suitable for all readers. Highly recommended.
As I mentioned in my review, I thoroughly enjoyed the illustrations of each oglf the dinosaurs that the characters encountered as they came across them. I also greatly appreciated the pronunciation for each being provided. I'm sure that I still butchered their names in my head, but the effort to help me not do that is greatly appreciated. Yes, there is a love story there. No, it is not the whole story. It's cute and sweet and appropriate for most ages. There is some hand holding, light kissing, and hugging. There isn't anything inappropriate for young readers. I think that many different ages of readers will enjoy "Dino-Rift." Plus, there is a second one! I'm itching to read it!

Now, last but certainly not least, our final book of our triple treat. It is a young adult fantasy adventure called Chasing the Lights by Sherry Hutchison.
We'll start with the trigger warnings.

Trigger Warnings:
Divorce
Parental death
Prayer
Nothing too bad here either, of course. This one felt maybe even younger than young adult to me. I could see kids like ages ten and up, maybe, enjoying this book. Like a tween and/or young teen read.
Sherry brings us a beautiful, curious, and wonderfully intelligent young protagonist named CT. Though she's only ten years old, CT is brave and makes for a wonderful little leading lady. All of the characters are imaginative and fun. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
Here is my official review:
"Chasing the Lights" is a whimsical young adult novella. It is cute and feels a bit like a children's story book tale. Over all, it is a cute and quick read with a curious and brave ten year old protagonist.
If you'd like to meet CT and go on a magical adventure, you can get "Chasing the Lights" here: https://a.co/d/3rHquRD
I hope that you enjoyed all three of the books this week, dear readers. That does it for me for this week, but please join me next week to get a holiday book fix. š Until then, curl up with a good book.
