Silenced Girls

Happy Tuesday, fellow readers! I hope that you are doing well. My son has been sick and now that he's feeling better, I, of course, caught it. So, yeah, now I'm sick. Luckily for me, my TBR pile is always full, and I have a real thriller of a mystery for you. It's called "Silenced Girls" by Roger Stelljes.

Before we dive in, we'll start with the trigger warnings.

It's the typical triggers for a book about murder. This one is neat as there is a 20 year gap in time involved. Most books start with one mystery in the present time and run with it. It was intriguing to have a past and a present mystery.

The characters are in depth and interesting. Tori, the FMC, is opinionated, hard headed, and a bit of a loner who is married to her career. She has let her traumatic past shape her. The MMC, Chief Detective Will Braddock, is also defined by his traumatic and heroic past. The other characters were also very impacted by the mysterious disappearance of their friend.

The twists! The author absolutely brings it with throwing us readers off the scent. The plot is so devious and well thought out. It's fantastic. There is a little bit of romance with a little steam that breaks up the tension. It's well balanced without sacrificing suspense.

I never saw it coming! Wow! Talk about twists! "Silenced Girls" had me on the edge of my seat right along with the detectives. The romance was an added bonus that helped ease the tension. I'm so glad that there are more books involving Tori.
