One Kind Heart

Happy Tuesday, fellow readers! I hope that everyone is staying cool. We are headed into another heat wave here. So, its back to the air conditioning and reading a good book. This week's recommendation is a slow burn small town romance called "One Kind Heart" by Christine Depetrillo. Before we dive in, let's check out the trigger warnings.

There is definitely some trauma here, and it is laced through out the book. However, it's a beautiful story of love and new beginnings as well. Much like a Hallmark movie that this Maplehaven romance resembles, the plot is a bit predictable, however Christine gives us just enough twists to keep the story interesting.

Dakota is quite the MMC. A golden boy of his home town that his family founded. He's handsome and athletic and he's good with both animals and children. To top it off he's charitable and sweet too. A dream, right? And I adore that he's in his 30s and still single. I adore a 30 something love story.

Leah is a quirky school teacher trying to live again after unimaginable tragedy. Her themed shoes and socks for every occasion is such a fun trait. I love that despite being a New Yorker she has a small town heart.

The other characters like Noah, Krista, Luke, Nana, Heidi, Kyle, and Dakota's family make the story really come to life. Each one adds to the story and to the main characters. They are all very well done.

When a broken heart meets a kind heart.

Mr. Adventure, aka Dakota, is a full-on dream. Leah is a broken-hearted school teacher trying to live again. The book brings in a lot of trauma and healing as well as a lot of slow burn angst. It has the right mix of sweet and spicy to leave you satisfied.
