Happy Tuesday, fellow readers! It has been quite busy around here. However, I am so excited to celebrate another fantastic book release by Johnna Dee! Congratulations, Johnna! Please join me in checking out her new small-town paranormal second-chance romance called "Ex-Presso."

Before we dive in, let's start with the trigger warnings.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

🌶🌶

Trigger Warnings:

Explicit content

Profanity

Chronic illness

Mention of parental death/grief

Betrayal

I absolutely devoured this novella! I must warn you that it did break my heart. However, it did mend it back again. The spice is later in the story and a solid two to two and a half. It may even be a three for some people. The spice level is a bit subjective. The profanity is not much. The chronic illness is a shifter specific disease so it isn't a real disease. The grief/mention of death is brief. The betrayal is a tough one. It's heart wrenching.

The characters are interesting especially one mischievous three year old grifflet named Nibbles. He may be chaotic, but he's adorable and hilarious. I want one. Goldie is the one my heart broke for. To have the love of your life and have your future mapped out so certainly only to have it ripped away is devastating. Then to spend years in a half life rebuilding yourself. My heart! I do love the cafe that she runs and the interesting magical brews that she serves up there.

The book is a page turner and on the shorter side so it takes very little time to read it which was great as it's a busy time of the year for me. I am a fan of Johnna Dee's, and it's been a tewat to see her grow as an author. I especially appreciated the parenting styles by Lucian's parents and Goldie's aunt. Overall, its a bit of an emotional roller-coaster that you'd happily ride over and over again.

Here is my official review:

"Ex-Presso" is a small town paranormal second chance romance that broke my heart before putting it back together again. I adore the magical brews, and I need a grifflet in my life! Nibbles is just the right amount of mischievous to bring comic relief to tense situations. It's a quick and satisfying read. Well done, Johnna Dee!
